Nestled on the border between Guangxi and Hunan provinces, about 150–170 km from Guilin city, Bajiao Zhai—also known as Yuntai Mountain—is a spectacular showcase of rare Danxia landform. The park is named for its majestic main peak with eight sharp angles, soaring to an elevation of 818 m, earning global recognition as one of China’s Seven Most Beautiful Danxia Landscapes by China National Geographic, and designated as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site, a National Geological Park, and a 4A-level scenic area

Dramatic rock formations: Hundreds of colorful sandstone peaks—towering pillars, sweeping ridges, narrow cliffs—sculpted by erosion over millions of years.
Iconic attractions: Over 130 natural and cultural landmarks, including:
“Group of Snails Gazing at the Sky”: clusters of curved peaks resembling snails looking up
“Whales in the Sea”: rock formations emerging from mist
“Dragon-Back Sky Ladder”: perilous stairway along a ridge
“Tear-Eye Stone”: a rock that seemingly sheds tears
“Dragon‑Head Incense Rock”: a narrow 100 m long ridge where rituals are performed

Hiking & viewpoints: The scenic loop (2–2.5 hrs) circles through peaks, ridges, temples; climbing the main summit adds around 1.5 hrs.
